Obituary  Mr. Geevarghese Kunjappy(70) Thazhe Puthenveedu , Anchal P. O, Kollam (Dist). Father of Mr. Thomas K. (T151) (St. Philipose Prayer Group, Abbassiya) passed away on Sunday, 5th February, 2012 at Anchal. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, 8th February, 2012 at St. George Orthodox Church, Anchal. Congratulations Hearty Congratulations to the winners of Mar Theodosius Memorial Inter Prayer Group Quiz competition, which was held on 3rd February 2012 at St. George Chapel, Abbassiya. Winners 1st - St. Thomas Prayer Group, Abbassiya 2nd - St. Johns Prayer Group, Salmiya. Hearty Congratulations. Out of 19 prayer groups, 12 prayer groups participated and  6 prayer groups reached to the final stage.  Thanks to one and all who participated and witnessed the programme. A  word of gratitude goes to the Quiz Master and his team.

Drawing and Essay Writing competition OCYM is planning to conduct a Drawing and Essay Writing competition in relation with the  “International Forestry Year” on Friday 17th February , 2012 at  St. George Chapel, Abbassiya from 3 pm onwards. The rules are as follows:   Drawing Group Age Group Theme Juniors Upto 8 Years Trees Intermediate Between  9 & 18 Years Eco Friendly House Seniors 19 and above Save Earth  Essay Writing competition Group Age Group Theme Intermediate between the ages 13 & 18 1.  Sins against Nature and God: We are all accountable for ignoring the global consequences of environmental exploitation 2.  Saving the soul of the Planet: An Orthodox concern 3.  Christianity and Ecology: Wholeness, Respect, Justice, Sustainability, reference to the Genesis chapter 1 & 2. Seniors 19 and above   Note:    1. This is event is only for our church members and their family members. 2. Only plain drawing sheet will be provided for both the events. 3. For drawing only water colour can be used, no fluorescent colours are allowed. 4. For Essay Writing the final topic will be 10 minutes before the event. 5. Essay can be written either in English or in Malayalam. 6. Martha Mariam Samajam is organizing its Annual Conference Martha Mariam Samajam is organizing its Annual Conference at St George Chapel , Abbassiya on February 17, 2012 after Holy Qurbana from 9:30 am to  1:30 pm. The theme of the conference being ‘ I am a grafted wild olive - a Christian perspective’ based on Romans 11:17. (ottichu chertha kattolivaanu njan- Oru christhiya veekshanam) The Vicar of St.Basil Church, Kuwait, Rev. Fr. Saju Philip would be the chief speaker and the Kochamma of Ahmadi St.Thomas Orthodox Church, (Mrs. Annamma Abraham) also would deliver a message on this theme emphasizing the woman’s role. Other programmes planned are Bible Quiz (Gospel of St Luke), group songs, craft class, cookery class etc, followed by lunch. Registration will start at 9:30 am and start the meeting with prayer at sharp 10:00 am.

KECF Quiz competition 2011 KECF Quiz competition scheduled on 28th January 2012 is being postponed to 11th February 2012 at NECK from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM. All Parish members requested to attend and encourage the Junior and Senior Teams representing our Church.

Farewell for outgoing students Church is organizing a farewell for all outgoing 10th and 12th standard students on Friday 10th February 2012 at Caesars Dakshin Restaurant Hall, Abbassiya at 11:30 am. Parents of outgoing children in class 10 and 12 are requested to give the student names to the Managing Committee Members /  Prayer Group secretaries / by email to secretary@iocq8.org latest by Tuesday 7th February 2012.

Feast of St. Barsouma  Holy Qurbana will be arranged at St. George Chapel, Abbassiya on Sunday, 12th February, 2012 at 6:30 pm to commemorate the feast of St. Barsouma. All bachelors are requested to avail this opportunity to attend the special service at Abbassiya Chapel.
